On June 21, 2005 we adopted Basil, Arabic for strength and courage, and our favorite herb. Basil lived for 16 years (12/2004-1/21/21) and she lived those years well. She called Telluride, Jackson, Eagle/Vail, Lander, Fort Collins, and Denver (with Grandma and Grandpa) her home. Her greatest adventure was at 14 when we took an 8,000-mile, month long, road trip in our VW Syncro to the Canadian Arctic. She tipped her toes in the Arctic Ocean! While we grieve and begin to heal, we find an incredible sense of calmness and peace in her passing. It is a feeling of serenity, like a cold, snowy, silent winter day. Her favorite! Basil, you will forever be our Northern Light, our best friend. I know you have found a place where the streams will cool your paws, the meadows are endless to run through, and the snow is soft and plenty…until we we meet again…this is not goodbye…find us when we cross that rainbow bridge of the north, another journey awaits…Love, your family – Sarah, Jeff and Thyme
